Watch this space for future programs and events happening in ML and around campus…
As you may or may not be aware of ML is a very popular choice for students living on campus. And the reality is that we would never be able to house everyone that has requested to live here. We just finished a beautiful renovation and reopened last fall so I don’t believe that another to add 600 rooms is going to happen.
But if you are interested in living in ML (or any other hall for that matter) you must contact the Residence Director (RD) of the hall that you are interested in living. All RDs begin to keep a waiting list for students starting the first day of classes (Wed Sept. 2nd). This is how we fill the spaces we have in our halls as they occur. As much as I like “fan mail” please do not contact me regarding moving into or around in ML before that date. Also know that we have a Room Freeze the first two weeks of the semester in which room/building switches do not occur. Again just be patient once you are on a waiting list we will not forget you.
Wear Sunscreen!

Hello ML Residents!
Welcome to the new Mary Lyon Hall Blog. The “blogging” concept is a little new to me, but I believe it’s a great way to be able to communicate and share information with the entire ML community so I’ll give it a go.
If you are living in Mary Lyon for the first time “welcome”. If you are one of the many members returning to this great community “welcome back”! The summer goes by quickly here and I have been getting ready for your arrival at the beginning of the semester. Mary Lyon opens for students for the fall semester on SUNDAY August 31st! The doors open at 8:30am until 6pm, but don’t feel rushed to get here. Classes start on Wed September 2nd.
Some things to help you as you plan for your arrival:
1) You should contact your roommate(s) prior to your arrival. Have those conversations about what they plan on bringing and what you plan on bringing. No sense in have 2 microwaves, TV’s things that take up space.
2) Don’t bring everything you own!!! It is always easier to move in with LESS STUFF. Bring the basics and what you know you will need. Then when you make a trip home for the weekend to have your mother do your laundry (I went to college too…I know how it works) you can bring back more if needed.
3) Label your belongings/boxes that you are moving into the building with your name, hall, and room number. In the center of campus besides Mary Lyon there is Samuel Read Hall as well as Blair Hall. There are hundreds of students moving into all these buildings at the same time. We also have several athletic teams that help people move in and we want to make sure if you misplace a box or leave one in the parking lot we know where it belongs. It’s worth it trust me…
4) Please be patient! As I said above there is a large number of students moving in. You may have to wait a little bit. Don’t fret! We are not going anywhere. You’ll get in, we promise.
Enjoy the rest of your summer! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at atrodella@plymouth.edu.
